Darshan Lal Jain was a social activist from the state of Haryana. He was a successful metal works industrialist, but moved by the plight of young girls remaining illiterate due to the societal conditions in the state, he opened several educational institutes dedicated to the cause. Jain also played an active part in tracing the path and origins of the hidden river Saraswati. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2019. He passed away at the age of 93 in 2021.
